This hand-carved wooden mask is distinguished by its elongated form, pronounced central ridge and bands of earthen red, white, black and vivid blue pigment.

Historically, Kifwebe masks were associated with societies connected to authority, social order and ceremonial performance. Their striking geometric forms transform the human face through exaggerated features and contrasting fields of color.

Note: Natural variations, surface wear and pigment loss are inherent to the character of this collected piece.
